How do I design my ID Cards?

You have a couple of options:

1. Design your own

We've created a couple of tools to help you with this.

1.  Artwork Guidelines - these detail exactly how we need the artwork to be and include dimensions, bleed lines etc.

2.  Use our simple design template

Please note that we need print ready files for each card, therefore if you have 50 cards with variable data (such as name, photo) then we'll need 50 separate files.

You may also find our article on 'How to get the best quality print for your ID Cards' useful reading.

Please also bear in mind that since all computer monitors and devices display colour differently, we cannot guarantee print colours will match colours viewed on screen or when printed. For these reasons, we do not accept returns based on colour.

How do I send you my artwork and/or data?

Can I see a proof before you print them?

We recommend adding the 'Photo Artwork Proof' to your order.  We will print your design, as you have supplied it, onto a card and send you a photo so that you can check you're happy with the positioning, print quality and colours, before we fulfil your full order.

2. We design them

For complete ease and peace of mind, we recommend using our artwork and database set up service.  For a small charge of £30 we will create your artwork to your specification, including merging in any data required such as names and photos. Please note, if your order is expedited, the 20% charge also applies to the artwork and database set up service which changes the charge to £36.

You will receive an artwork proof for you to sign off before we go ahead with the print so you can be 100% sure that you are happy with the design.

The fee allows for up to 3 changes so you have the freedom to tweak the design to make it perfect for you.

If required, we can also hold your design on file for any future orders meaning you won't need to pay the artwork fee next time.

If you select this option our design team will contact you within two hours of receiving your order to commence the design process.

A quick word about photos

The best photos are taken close up against a white or pale background.  It's not necessary to use passport photos or even a proper camera, most camera phones are capable of taking high quality photos suitable for ID cards.

Top tips to remember:

  • Lighting - not too light or too dark
  • In focus
  • Subject isn't too close or too far away
  • Make sure there is plenty of space around the head to allow for any cropping required in the design process.
  • Please don't send us images over 1mb - if you need to reduce the size, open in paint and reduce - the ideal is 200 - 500kb.

We're unable to accept printed photos so they will need to be supplied in digital format.

And a word about Data Protection

If you are supplying personal data for us to print on the cards please ensure that you have the authorisation of the data subject before sharing their data with us.  You can find out more about Data Protection and GDPR here.
